Welcome to Maersk Line's BAF formula and calculator.
To make it easier for you, we have developed a Standard Bunker Adjustment formula
which can apply to all trades. This way we take out any inconsistency in pricing
and make it simple to determine your Bunker Adjustment Factor.
On January 1st 2012, we have introduced the new Standard Bunker Adjustment Factor (SBF)
to replace the existing Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF).
Making it easier for the customers, the new SBF formula provides a simpler, updated and transparent calculation for bunker price adjustments.
Our "BAF Calculator" (or SBF calculator) lets you work out the cost in any given corridor.
Just type in the load and the discharge countries,
then select the container type, and we will make the calculation for you.
The resulting calculation shows both the new SBF, as well as the old BAF, for the sake of comparison.
You can find out more about the variables behind the SBF/BAF formula once your calculation has been made. Our online simulator
will show you how the SBF/BAF fluctuates as a consequence of bunker price changes.
